Congress MPs Stage Unique Protest Over Bihar Voter List Fraud Featuring ‘India’s Oldest Voter

This just can not happen. New Delhi: 12 August 2025. Congress MPs including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Gaurav Gogoi stormed into the Parliament premises in white T-shirt with the photo of Minta Devi. Who Minta Devi? She is the 124 year old voter of Bihar in Daraundha Assembly constituency whose age as found in the voter list stands at 124.

On the reverse side of the shirts was written 124 Not Out which was intended at the Bihar government which had been conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. The stunt was part of the greater attempt by the Congress and the INDIA Bloc to outline what was described as a case of widespread voter fraud in a number of constituencies.

The Case of Minta Devi – A “First-Time Voter” at 124 Years Old

According to Congress leaders, Minta Devi has been listed as a first-time voter in the updated electoral roll, despite her improbable age. Speaking to PTI, Congress MP Manickam Tagore said:

“Minta Devi is a first-time voter and she is 124 years old. The voter list carries her name as a first-time voter. We want a discussion on such issues. How has the Election Commission become a party to the BJP? The voter list is full of such fraud.”

The recent action by Congress is an attempt to debunk the math itself by citing the guinness world records which listed Ethel Caterham of the United Kingdom as the oldest living person in the world at 115 years old- nine years less than the age of Minta Devi.

Lawmakers have not done so but it was implied that the birth certificate of Minta Devi may not be the original copy.

Rahul Gandhi’s August 7 Press Conference

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi named Minta Devi and two other women purportedly more than one hundred years old by Bihar voter rolls in a press conference on August 7, 2025. Part of the problem is that these obvious mistakes revealed an even bigger scheme of voter-fraud that was related to the Special Intensive Revision process, according to Gandhi.

Opposition Parties Join Forces

Never just the Congress MPs today: DMK, Trinamool Congress, NCP (SP) Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and the Left parties also supported the 15-day #IndiaBloc agitation on Parliament premises. The principal demand of the opposition is that the Election Commission of India should be accountable and also there is an allegation that the BJP has been caught interfering with the process of revision of voter lists.
